Explore Kenya’s wildlife by visiting protected areas like Amboseli, Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Aberdare, and Samburu National Parks. This safari combines Big Five encounters with cultural tours, including a visit to the Maasai community for an enriching adventure.
During these 10 days, expect to see animals like sitatungas, bushbucks, hartebeests, wildebeests, lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, warthogs, giraffes, and crocodiles.
Bird species such as flamingos, ibises, hornbills, fish eagles, and egrets are also commonly spotted. If you visit during the migration season, you will witness the annual wildebeest migration alongside zebras.
Day 1: Transfer to Amboseli National Park
Depart from Nairobi and head to Amboseli National Park, known for its large elephant herds and stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro. “Amboseli” means “salty dust” in the Maasai language, and it is one of Kenya’s most popular parks.
Upon arrival, enjoy an evening game drive to see elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and rhinos. Then, check in at your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive
Spend a full day exploring the scenic landscape, home to zebras, giraffes, antelopes, wildebeests, hyenas, elephants, and more. The game drives include various stopovers for picnics and wildlife viewing.
Spot birds like hawks, vultures, eagles, hornbills, and ibises.
Day 3: Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, depart from Amboseli and head to the Masai Mara National Reserve, a prime destination for Big Five sightings and the annual wildebeest migration.
The reserve, named in honor of the Maasai people, is connected to Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park.
Upon arrival, enjoy an evening game drive through the savanna.
Days 4-5: Explore the Mara Plains
Spend these two days exploring the expansive Mara plains with activities such as game drives, hot air balloon safaris, and visits to the Maasai community. Spot various animals, including lions, elephants, rhinos, giraffes, leopards, warthogs, zebras, gerenuks, kudus, cheetahs, and crocodiles.
Enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the park during the hot air balloon ride, and experience Maasai culture through traditional music, dances, and dress. Other memorable experiences include picnic lunches, sunrise and sunset views, and observing predator hunts.
Day 6: Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park
Travel to Lake Nakuru National Park, named after the lake that attracts large flocks of flamingos. Besides flamingos, the park is home to other birds and animals like buffaloes, rhinos, and giraffes.
Upon arrival, check in at your lodge for lunch, followed by a game drive. Dinner will be served at the lodge.
Day 7: Head to Aberdare National Park
Enjoy a morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, followed by breakfast. Then, transfer to Aberdare National Park, which is home to many wild animals, including large herds of black rhinos.
Upon arrival, embark on a game drive where you may see elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, blue and colobus monkeys, leopards, lions, warthogs, giant forest hogs, bushbucks, red duikers, reedbucks, and elands.
Check in at the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 8: Head to Samburu Game Reserve
After a morning game drive, transfer to Samburu National Park, a wilderness area covering 165 square kilometers. Upon arrival, embark on an evening game drive, where you can see giraffes, Somali ostriches, gerenuks, zebras, lions, cheetahs, and elephants. Check in at your lodge for dinner.
Day 9: Full Day in Samburu
Spend the day exploring Samburu’s diverse wildlife and scenic landscapes. Animals you may see include reticulated giraffes, Somali ostriches, Grevy’s zebras, Beisa oryx, gerenuks, aardwolves, African hares, antelopes, banded mongooses, bat-eared foxes, and bush babies. Enjoy both morning and afternoon game drives.
Day 10: Transfer Back to Nairobi
Depart from Samburu, depending on your flight schedule, and head back to Nairobi. You will be dropped off at the airport, marking the end of your 10-day Kenya safari.
