Detailed 12 Days Uganda Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport to start your Uganda holiday
Meet with your driver guide at Entebbe International Airport and later, have a warm welcome. Have a short briefing on the 12 days Uganda North-Western Circuit and after, be transferred to your hotel in Kampala for a comfortable stay.
Day 2: Travel to Murchison Falls N. Park, North-western Uganda
Breakfast early morning and after, leave your hotel room in Kampala for Murchison Falls National Park. This is Uganda’s largest park and the only one park in the North-western circuit.
From Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park, expect to spend about 4 to 5 hours and you will have en-route stopover at Luweero to purchase some fruits, then Masindi for lunch.
Proceed straight to the top of Murchison Falls to witness it as it forces itself into a narrow gorge of about 7 meters.
Day 3: Game drive & boat safari in Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda
Have a delicious breakfast and after, vacate your room for an exciting morning game drive towards the Northern section of Murchison Falls N. Park.
This will start early at around 7:00am and takes about 2-3 hours while in a pop-up roof Land cruiser or safari Van.
This specific region of Murchison Falls offers you clear sight of African bush elephants, Cape Buffaloes, Lions, Leopards, Hartebeests, Uganda Kobs, the Rothschild giraffes, warthogs and birds.
Return from a game drive along the pristine savannas of Murchison Falls and be served with lunch at the lodge.
In the afternoon, join other holidaymakers on a boat tour towards the bottom of Murchison Falls. This also exposes you to hundreds of hippos, crocodiles, aquatic birds along the Nile.
Day 4: Murchison Falls to Kibale Forest National Park
After you have had breakfast, vacate your lodge in Murchison Falls and drive to Kibale Forest National Park for a chimpanzee tracking safari holiday. Kibale Forest houses up to 13 species of primates with chimpanzee tracking plus several activities being the top experiences attracting most holidaymakers.
A stopover be made for lunch at Fort Portal Tourism City after a long day drive. As you head to Kibale Forest, enjoy en-route spectacular views of crater lakes, tea plantations and later, check into your lodge.
Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest
Breakfast early and later, leave the lodge for briefing on chimpanzee tracking guidelines in Kanyanchu Tourist Centre-Kibale National Park, The Primate Capital of East Africa. At 8:00am, be ready to set off for actual chimp trek that lasts for 2-4 inclusive of 1 hour of a close encounter.
As well, there are also other primates to look out for including L’Hoest’s monkeys, red colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, vervet, black and white colobus monkeys; interesting birds, colorful butterflies. Return after observing and having in-depth learning about chimpanzees.
Go enjoy Bigodi guided nature walk after lunch at your lodge. Bigodi wetland is endowed with diverse birds, primates, butterflies and other mammals that you should expect to enjoy good sight while on guided nature walk.
Day 6: Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park for a wildlife safari
Take breakfast and after, set off for Queen Elizabeth National Park game viewing experience. En-route trip comes with excellent views of beautiful Crater Lakes and the mystical Mountains of the Moon.
Get to Queen Elizabeth National Park for a quick game drive before proceeding to the lodge for lunch.
Later in the afternoon, you have enjoyable boat or launch cruise safari along Kazinga Channel which is a stretch of water linking Lake Edward and Lake George. The launch cruise tour comes with clear view of hippos, crocodiles, water birds and later, get back for overnight stay.
Day 7: Game viewing safari
Have breakfast and later, drive along Kasenyi Savanna Plains for 2-3 hours’ game drive that will expose you to park’s big game, antelopes, birds and a lot more. Later, set off towards Ishasha Area in the southern area to see the tree climbing lions.
Today, your game viewing safari will include a picnic lunch or get back to the lodge to be served lunch.
Day 8: A trip to Bwindi for gorilla trekking holiday
After the early morning cup of tea/coffee, leave the lodge for gorilla safari in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Enjoy the breathtaking views of Kigezi Highlands, sceneries of the terraced hills and lunch be had at the lodge. Relax at the accommodation for the remaining time as you prepare for your actual gorilla trek the following day.
Day 9: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi
Breakfast early and after, briefing on your top safari highlight adventure-mountain gorilla trekking. This will be conducted at Bwindi offices by park official and later, leave for actual search for mountain gorillas with an experienced guide on lead.
A gorilla safari experience today takes 2-6 hours (though not predictable) but expect an hour of magical encounter with a gorilla family group in the wild. Return afterwards to relax and have a thrilling Uganda safari cultural experience in the Batwa Community.
Day 10: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
Enjoy a cup of tea/coffee and later, vacate you room for Lake Mburo N. Park-about 4 hours’ drive. Lunch be served to you upon arrival at the lodge and after, a boat cruise experience along Lake Mburo.
Day 11: A trip to Jinja through Kampala
Have breakfast early and after, meet your driver guide prepared to set off to Jinja through Kampala. En-route stopover at Equator crossing is a must do before you hit the road to Jinja. Lunch be had in a hotel in Kampala and you drive via Mabira Forest to Jinja.
Day 12: White water rafting in Jinja. Depart back to Kampala
Breakfast early morning and after, go enjoy a day white water rafting experience on the River Nile whose source is only found in Jinja-Uganda. After, get back to Kampala/Entebbe.
