Detailed 4 Days 2 Gorilla Treks Itinerary
Day 1: Depart Kampala to Bwindi forest, with a stopover at the equator for photos
Leave Kampala after meeting your driver guide and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park which is located in the western parts of Uganda. The park covers an area of 331 square kilometers and though the park is a home of large number of gorillas – they are all mountain gorillas.
Along the way, have a stopover at the equator in Kayabwe and enjoy a moment of taking photos and if time is still your best ally, visit any near craft shop and buy souvenirs. There after procced with your journey and arrive in Bwindi in the evening.
Day 2: 1st gorilla trekking experience
After an early breakfast, drive and head to the visitor’s reception either in Buhoma, Ruhija, Nkuringo and Rushaga depending on the booked lodge, because all these are sectors in Bwindi and all offer gorilla trekking adventures. To trek gorillas, you must note that you need to be physically fit and trekking starts at 8:00am strictly.
You will spend one – seven hours in search of gorillas, one hour in their presence after trekking them and one hour going back to the starting point, then meet your driver guide and drive back to the lodge.
Day 3: Second gorilla trekking in another gorilla family
Wake up in the morning for breakfast, and then drive to the starting point at park office and meet your guide who will take you through the second phase of trekking and move into the forest.
After finding a group, spend good time with the gorillas accompanied with all questions that you feel like asking the guide which will be fully answered and interpreted.
Observe the behaviors of gorillas, take photos for memories while back home and feel the breath of the forest too. After move back to the lodge and prepare for next day’s departure.
Day 4: Transfer back to Kampala
Have breakfast from the lodge, and drive back to Kampala via Masaka – Mbarara road and on your way have a stop at the equator for lunch and relaxation. Continue with the journey to Kampala and your driver guide will drop you at the airport and later fly back home.
