Detailed 4-Day Gorillas, Golden Monkeys & Fossey Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Arrive and transfer to Volcanoes National Park in the northern province of Rwanda. In the afternoon, you can choose to visit the mysterious Musanze Caves.
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Tracking
Today, bond with mountain gorillas in the jungles of Volcanoes National Park. Wake up early and arrive at the park headquarters in Kinigi for the pre-briefing meeting on time. The meeting lasts only 30 minutes, where you will be allocated mountain gorilla groups to trek. After the meeting, head into the jungles to search for gorillas. Depending on your luck, this could take 2 to 8 hours.
After meeting the gorillas, return to your lodge and then visit Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village in the afternoon for a cultural experience.
Day 3: Golden Monkey Tracking
This morning, trek golden monkeys and optionally participate in an activity in the afternoon if interested.
Day 4: Dian Fossey Grave Visit
Wake up early and head to the Karisoke Research Center to visit Dian Fossey’s grave. Afterward, drive to Kigali City to catch your departure flight.
