7 Days Rwanda Safari Tour Overview
This 7-day Rwanda safari package highlights all three Rwandan national parks: Akagera National Park, Nyungwe Forest National Park, and Volcanoes National Park in their respective order. You will also visit Lake Kivu.
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park
Our tour guide will pick you up from Kigali City and transfer you to Akagera National Park on the first day of your 7-day Rwanda safari.
In the afternoon, you will enjoy a boat ride on Lake Ihema. This cruise will reward you with sights of crocodiles, hippopotamuses, several species of bird life, and more mammals that come to the lake shores to hydrate.
Day 2: Full Day Game Drive
On the second day of your 7-day safari in Rwanda, you will undertake a full-day game drive in the park. You will drive to the northern part of the park, a spot teeming with wildlife herds. Sights here include elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, giraffes, and many more wildlife species.
Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Wake up early and drive southwards towards Nyungwe Forest National Park. Along the way, you will visit the ethnographic museum in Butare and the former presidential palace in Nyanza before completing your journey to Nyungwe Forest.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk
Head to the forest very early in the morning to locate the chimpanzees before they wake up. Once located, you will spend an hour observing them before returning to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a canopy walk through the forest, offering a perfect elevated view of the surroundings.
Day 5: Transfer to Lake Kivu
Today, you will drive to Lake Kivu following the Congo Nile Divide Trail. If you arrive early enough, you will take a boat cruise on Lake Kivu to Coffee Island and back.
Day 6: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park and Visit Musanze Caves
Today, transfer to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze, a small town in the northern province of Rwanda. In the afternoon, visit the mystical Musanze Caves before retiring to your lodge for the night.
Day 7: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Departure
Despite being the last day of your 7-day Rwanda safari holiday, it promises the best experience. Report to the park headquarters by 7:00 am for briefing and then head into the jungles to search for mountain gorillas.
The activity may last up to 8 hours depending on how long it takes to locate the gorillas. Spend one hour with them upon finding them, then return to the park headquarters to collect your gorilla trekking certificates before proceeding to Kigali for your departure flight.
