Detailed 3-Day Rwanda Gorillas & Golden Monkeys Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
First, our safari guide will pick you up from Kigali and transfer you to Volcanoes National Park in the northern province of Rwanda. After you arrive, check in to your safari lodge for an overnight stay to prepare for your mountain gorilla trekking experience the next day.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village Experience
Start the day with an early breakfast, then head to the park headquarters for a short briefing. During this meeting, our guides will assign you to a mountain gorilla group of 8 trekkers. Immediately after, head to the Virunga Mountains to search for gorillas.
This activity can take up to 8 hours, depending on how long it takes to locate the gorillas. Once you find them, spend an hour observing before you return to the park headquarters to collect your gorilla trekking certificate.
In the afternoon, visit Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for a Rwandan cultural experience, then return to your lodge for an overnight stay.
Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking and Departure
In the morning, trek golden monkeys through the forest. This activity is slightly shorter than gorilla tracking, and lasts only 1 to 4 hours. After you finish trekking golden monkeys, return to Kigali to catch your flight back home.
