Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk
Wake up early in the morning and head to the forest to locate Chimpanzees before they wake up.
Chimps move very fast when they wake, so it’s best if you find them sleeping.
When you find them, you have one hour to spend with them before returning to your lodge.
In the afternoon, you will enjoy a magical canopy walk experience across Nyungwe Forest, offering an elevated view of the entire forest.
This is a perfect experience, especially for birders.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Kivu
Today, you will transfer to Lake Kivu via the Congo Nile Divide Trail.
In the afternoon, you will take a boat cruise on the lake, exploring various islands and places of interest.
Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On the fourth day of your 5-day tour, you will transfer to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze for a gorilla trekking encounter.
This park shelters Rwanda’s gorillas and some of the Virunga Mountains.
Upon arrival, you will visit the mysterious Musanze Caves in the afternoon.
Day 5: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Departure
Wake up early and head to the park headquarters for a briefing before embarking on your mountain gorilla trek.
Your trek could last from 2 to 8 hours, depending on how long it takes to locate the gorillas.
This time includes a 1-hour encounter with the gorillas.
After meeting the gorillas, you will return to the park headquarters for your gorilla trekking certificates and then transfer to Kigali City to catch your onward flight.
