Gorilla habituation is quite different from trekking which lasts for only one hour, while gorilla habituation takes about four hours. You are advised to be physically fit, enough to participate in this activity and to observe rules and regulations before heading out for thia experience.
This activity is carried out in Rushaga in the southern sector of Bwindi impenetrable national Park with only two gorilla families being habituated. Those families include Bikyingi and Bushaho and only four people are allowed to habituate a given gorilla family per day.
In otherwards, your safari will base in Bwindi impenetrable national with a stopover at the equator at Kayabwe in Mpigi district for photography and another one in Mbarara town for lunch buffet before checking in with a booked lodge.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at the airport and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Meet our well-behaved driver guide at the airport or hotel, who will take you through briefing about the safari later begin the journey. The drive will take you about 8 to 9 hours’ drive with a distance of 540 kilometers. Have a stopover at the equator in the Mpigi district for photography and scenery views.
Before reaching the park, you will spot animals like zebras, Impalas and many more grazing on the outskirts of Lake Mburo national Park.
The next stop will happen in Mbarara town for lunch and proceed with the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national Park in the southern sector. Check in with your booked lodge for dinner and a night’s stay.
Day 2: Gorilla habituation experience
After breakfast, the guide will drive to the starting point for briefing and other activities that take place. Head into the jungle in search of gorillas which will take you about 3 to 8 hours or even a whole day depending on where you’ll to find a group of gorillas compared to trekking which takes 3 hours.
These primate apes share 96% of human DNA and since their habituation experience, interesting things will be encountered among them like patrolling, grooming, communication skills and others.
However, the recommended four hours are to spend them after finding a group. Retreat to the office on foot and meet your driver guide, then move back to the lodge for late lunch and relax.
Day 3: Return to Kampala
This marks the end of your safari in Bwindi impenetrable national Park, climaxing with a cup of coffee at the lodge. Pack all your luggage, then check out from the hotel and embark on your journey to Kampala.
Have lunch as soon as you arrive in Kampala and depending on the time of the flight you can opt to visit a craft shop for souvenirs. The driver guide will drop you at the airport and fly back home.
