Detailed 4-Day 2 Gorilla Trekking Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Depart Kampala to Bwindi with a Stop at the Equator
After meeting your driver guide, begin the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, located in western Uganda. The park covers 331 square kilometers and is home to mountain gorillas only.
Along the way, stop at the equator in Kayabwe for photos. If time allows, visit a nearby craft shop to buy souvenirs. Continue the drive and arrive in Bwindi in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: First Gorilla Trekking Experience
After an early breakfast, drive to the park office in your trekking sector: Buhoma, Ruhija, Nkuringo, or Rushaga. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi begins at 8:00 am after a briefing. You need to be physically fit, as the trek can last between 1 and 7 hours.
Once you find the gorillas, you will spend one full hour with them before returning to the starting point. Meet your driver guide and head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Second Gorilla Trekking in a Different Family
After breakfast, return to the park office for your second trek. This time, you will visit a different gorilla family. The trek follows the same routine of briefing, hiking into the forest, and spending one hour with the gorillas once you find them.
You can observe their behavior, ask questions to your guide, and take photos for memories. Later, return to the lodge for dinner and prepare for departure the next day.
Day 4: Return to Kampala
After breakfast, start the drive back to Kampala via the Masaka–Mbarara road. Stop again at the equator for lunch and photos, then continue to Kampala. Your driver guide will drop you at the airport for your flight.
