Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
On arrival at Kigali International Airport, your driver guide will meet you and take you on a short city tour. You will visit the Genocide Memorial sites, craft markets, and fruit markets before having lunch.
Afterwards, drive through the Katuna border post into Uganda, a journey of about 4–5 hours. Along the way, enjoy views of the Kigezi Highlands, sometimes called the Switzerland of Africa. On arrival, check in at your lodge in Bwindi for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing about Bwindi gorilla trekking rules. Rangers will then guide you into the forest to track one of the habituated gorilla families.
You will need a walking stick, water, a packed lunch or snacks, and a non-flash camera. The trek can take 2–8 hours depending on the gorillas’ movements. Once you find them, you will spend one hour observing their behavior and taking photos.
