Detailed Mount Nyiragongo Hike Climbing Safari Overview
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Gisenyi
When you arrive, our guide will pick you up and transfer you to Gisenyi, west of Rwanda. Upon reaching Gisenyi, you can choose to participate in a few optional safari activities, depending on the time of your arrival. You will spend the night here.
Day 2: Ascend / Hike Mount Nyiragongo
This day, you will cross the border by 7:00 am and drive to the Kibati Rangers Post in Virunga National Park to attend the morning briefing meeting before ascending the mountain.
You will find a number of porters at the starting point who can help you carry your luggage for a small fee. You will ascend the mountain and spend a night at the summit.
The lava lake is best viewed at night, and you will surely enjoy its view.
Day 3: Descend Mount Nyiragongo and Departure
On the last day of your 3-day Nyiragongo hiking tour, you will descend Mount Nyiragongo and find your guide waiting for you at Kibati Patrol Post.
You will cross the border back to Rwanda and then transfer to Kigali immediately to catch your departure flight.
