The 16 Days Uganda Safari Adventure is a long safari designed to give you memorable primate and wildlife experiences in Uganda, the Pearl of Africa.

This safari covers Budongo Forest in Murchison Falls National Park, Kibale Forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Lake Mburo, and Lake Bunyonyi in southwestern Uganda.

It focuses mainly on primate encounters such as chimpanzee tracking and gorilla trekking, as well as game drives in the savanna parks. The safari begins and ends in Entebbe or Kampala.

Detailed 16-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Budongo Forest

After breakfast, drive from Kampala/Entebbe through Luwero and Masindi to Budongo Forest, about 4–5 hours away. On arrival, check into your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking & Visit Top of the Falls

After breakfast, gather at Budongo Forest offices for a briefing before chimpanzee trekking. The trek lasts 2–4 hours, including one hour with the chimps. You may also see other primates, birds, and plants. Return for lunch and later visit the Top of the Falls to see the Nile squeeze through a 7–8m gorge before dropping 43m below.

Day 3: Game Drive & Boat Trip

After tea or coffee, cross the Nile to the northern section of Murchison Falls National Park for a 2–3 hour game drive. Look out for giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, antelopes, warthogs, and many birds. Return for lunch, then take an afternoon boat ride to the base of the falls. Spot crocodiles, hippos, and aquatic birds along the way.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive & Afternoon Delta Boat Ride

Take another game drive in the northern savannas to see animals you may have missed the previous day. After lunch, enjoy a boat trip to the Albert Delta where you may see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and birds such as the shoebill stork.

Day 5: Transfer to Kibale National Park

After breakfast, drive to Kibale Forest through Fort Portal where you will have lunch. Continue to your lodge in Kibale for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Wetland Walk

After breakfast, report to Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for a briefing and chimpanzee trek. The trek lasts 2–4 hours, with one hour spent observing the chimps. Later, return for lunch and in the afternoon visit Bigodi Wetland for a guided walk to see primates, birds, and other mammals.

Day 7: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, drive for 3–4 hours to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Pass through Fort Portal with views of crater lakes and the Rwenzori Mountains. On arrival, have lunch and take an afternoon game drive in Mweya Plains.

Day 8: Game Drive & Boat Trip

After tea or coffee, set out for a 2–3 hour game drive in Kasenyi Plains. Look out for elephants, lions, buffaloes, antelopes, and birds. Return for lunch, then take a 2–3 hour boat trip along the Kazinga Channel to see hippos, crocodiles, and water birds.

Day 9: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kyambura Gorge & Katwe Salt Mines Visit

After breakfast, drive to Kyambura Gorge for chimp trekking starting at 8:00am. Spend 2–4 hours in the gorge with one hour observing the chimps. Return for lunch, then visit Lake Katwe Salt Mines to learn about the traditional salt extraction process.

Day 10: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, drive 3–5 hours to Bwindi, with an en-route game drive in Ishasha sector to look for tree-climbing lions. Stop for lunch at Savanna Resort, then continue to your lodge in Bwindi.

Day 11: Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Community Visit

After breakfast, report for a briefing at the park offices before starting your gorilla trek in Bwindi. Trekking may last 2–6 hours, including one hour with the gorillas. Return for lunch, then in the evening visit the Batwa community for a cultural experience.

Days 12–13: Explore Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Spend two days relaxing by the lake, taking boat rides, bird watching, or visiting local islands.

Day 14: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo with a stop at Igongo Cultural Centre for lunch. On arrival, take a game drive to see zebras, giraffes, impalas, and other animals.

Day 15: Walking Safari & Afternoon Boat Trip

After breakfast, enjoy a guided walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park. In the afternoon, take a boat trip on the lake to see hippos, crocodiles, and water birds.

Day 16: Departure

After breakfast, take a short morning game drive before driving back to Kampala or Entebbe. Stop at the Equator crossing for photos, then continue to the airport for your flight.
