To catch your departure flight on time, you will trek lowland gorillas first and hike Mount Nyiragongo after.
This package involves driving long distances.

To shorten the distance, consider adding an extra day at the beginning to spend a night in Nyungwe or Cyangugu if possible.
Day 1: Transfer to Bukavu
On this day, depart Kigali very early in the morning, driving southwards towards Rusizi District where you will cross into Congo. Lunch will be en route.
Day 2: Lowland Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Goma
Wake up early and transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing before heading into the lowlands of Kahuzi Biega National Park to search for gorillas.
You will spend an hour observing the gorillas upon meeting them, then return to the starting point and transfer to Goma.
Day 3: Climb Nyiragongo
Take an early morning drive to Kibati Patrol Station where you will begin your hike. It will take about 4 – 6 hours to ascend this mountain to the summit.
Spend the night at the summit and enjoy an excellent view of the lava lake at night.
Day 4: Descend Nyiragongo and Departure
Early in the morning, descend the mountain. Your tour guide will be waiting for you at the starting point. Transfer to Kigali to catch your departure flight.
