Detailed 12-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport

Meet your driver guide at Entebbe International Airport. After a warm welcome and short briefing, transfer to your hotel in Kampala for overnight.

Day 2: Travel to Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, set off for Murchison Falls, Uganda’s largest national park. The drive takes about 4 to 5 hours, with stops in Luweero to buy fruits and Masindi for lunch. Continue to the top of the falls to see the Nile force its way through a narrow gorge.

Day 3: Game Drive and Boat Safari in Murchison Falls

Begin with an early morning game drive in the northern sector. Look out for elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, giraffes, hartebeests, kobs, warthogs, and birds. Return for lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, take a boat trip to the bottom of the falls to see hippos, crocodiles, and water birds.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, drive to Kibale Forest for chimpanzee trekking. The journey includes a stop in Fort Portal for lunch, with views of crater lakes and tea plantations before checking in at your lodge.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Swamp Walk

After breakfast, report to Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for a briefing before chimpanzee trekking. The trek lasts 2 to 4 hours and includes one full hour with the chimps. Other primates, birds, and butterflies may also be seen. Return for lunch, then join a guided walk in Bigodi Swamp to see more wildlife and community projects.

Day 6: Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Boat Trip

After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park with views of crater lakes and the Rwenzori Mountains. Take a short game drive before lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, which links Lake George and Lake Edward, to see hippos, crocodiles, and water birds.

Day 7: Game Drive and Transfer to Ishasha

Take a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains to see lions, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and birds. Continue to the Ishasha sector in southern Queen Elizabeth to look for tree-climbing lions. Lunch will be picnic-style or back at the lodge.

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After tea or coffee, drive to Bwindi with views of the Kigezi Highlands and terraced hills. Lunch will be served at the lodge. Spend the rest of the day relaxing in preparation for gorilla trekking.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

After an early breakfast, report to the park offices for a briefing before starting the Bwindi gorilla trek. The walk can take 2 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorillas. Once found, spend one hour watching them. Return to the lodge for lunch and later enjoy a cultural visit with the Batwa community.

Day 10: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, drive about 4 hours to Lake Mburo. On arrival, have lunch at the lodge, then take a boat trip on Lake Mburo to see hippos, crocodiles, and birds.

Day 11: Drive to Jinja via Kampala

After breakfast, start the journey to Jinja with a stop at the Equator for photos. Lunch will be in Kampala before continuing through Mabira Forest to Jinja.

Day 12: White Water Rafting in Jinja and Departure

After breakfast, spend the day rafting on the River Nile at its source in Jinja. Later, drive back to Kampala or Entebbe for your flight.
