Detailed 3-Day Chimp Trekking Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, you will meet your guide and start the journey to western Uganda, driving through Fort Portal town. Along the way, you will stop for lunch and taste some local snacks before continuing to Kibale Forest National Park. On arrival, you will check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before entering the forest. The trek usually takes 4 to 5 hours, including one full hour of observing chimpanzees once you find them.
You will watch them feed, play, and interact with each other in their natural home. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, you will visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided walk, where you may see many bird species and other small primates.
Optional Activity: Instead of regular trekking, you can choose the Chimpanzee Habituation Experience (CHEX) to spend more time with the chimps.
Day 3: Return to Kampala
After breakfast, begin the journey back to Kampala. On the way, you will stop at cultural sites such as the Karambi Tombs and the Tooro Palace, and also have lunch along the route.
You will arrive in Kampala in the evening, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or at the airport for your flight.
