Detailed 8-Day Madagascar Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Antananarivo & Safari Briefing

Your arrival at the airport marks the start of your adventure. We will be there to meet you, holding a sign with your name. After picking you up, we will drive you to your hotel in Antananarivo, where you will receive a detailed briefing about your upcoming safari. You will spend the night in Antananarivo at a hotel in Tana.

Day 2: City Tour of Tana & Drive to Antsirabe

After a good breakfast at your hotel, you will visit the Queen’s Royal Palace to learn about the history of Madagascar’s monarchy. You will also visit the local market, where you’ll see colorful products and get a feel for the Malagasy lifestyle.

Afterward, you will drive to Antsirabe, with a stop in Ambatolampy to visit Madagascar’s pot-making center. In the evening, you’ll arrive in Antsirabe and check in to your hotel for the night.

Day 3: Antsirabe Tour & Journey to Morondava

Today you will tour the city of Antsirabe, visiting the Zebu Horn Factory and seeing more of the town. Later, you will continue your journey to Morondava.

Along the way, you will pass beautiful landscapes, villages, and many zebus. You’ll also see some baobab trees along the road.

When you arrive in Morondava, you will check into your hotel for the night.

Day 4: Drive to Bekopaka via Baobab Alley

After breakfast, you will drive to Bekopaka, the gateway to Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park. You will pass through Baobab Alley and stop briefly to take in the first views of this special place.

Continuing your journey, you will cross two rivers by ferry. After the first ferry, you will stop in Belo sur Tsiribihina for lunch, then carry on toward Bekopaka.

Just before reaching Bekopaka, you will cross the Manambolo River by ferry and then drive a few minutes to Orchidee du Bemaraha Hotel, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 5: Explore Big & Small Tsingy de Bemaraha

After breakfast, you’ll head out to explore the Big Tsingy. You’ll see lemurs, chameleons, night-active lemurs, and ring-tailed mongooses. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the middle of the rock forest.

In the afternoon, if you feel ready for more adventure, you can visit the Small Tsingy to experience more of this unique landscape. Or you can choose to relax by the pool with a cold drink.

You’ll spend the night at Orchidee du Bemaraha Hotel in Bekopaka.

Day 6: Return to Morondava with Sunset at Baobab Alley

After breakfast, you will begin your return trip to Morondava. Along the way, you will visit the Sacred Baobab and the “In Love Baobab,” where two large baobabs have grown together and intertwined, symbolizing love.

Many couples come here to renew their vows. Later, you’ll visit Baobab Alley to watch the famous sunset. The baobabs here are over 800 years old and are one of Madagascar’s top attractions.

After the sunset, continue your journey to Morondava, where you’ll check in to your hotel for the night.

Day 7: Drive Back to Antsirabe

After breakfast, you will drive back to Antsirabe. Along the way, you’ll pass through many villages and see people working in their rice fields. You’ll also enjoy views of semi-desert landscapes and mountains.

When you arrive in Antsirabe, you will check in to your hotel, the Royal Palace Hotel.

Day 8: Return to Antananarivo & Departure

After breakfast, you will drive to Antananarivo. On the way, you’ll enjoy one last look at the beautiful scenery and lush vegetation of the highlands.

When you arrive in Antananarivo, you will go straight to the airport and arrive at least 2 hours before check-in time.

You’ll say goodbye to Madagascar, the Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park, and the famous baobabs, taking home wonderful memories from your safari.
