Detailed 10-Day Madagascar Beach & Lemur Tour Itinerary

Days 1–3: Relax & Explore on Nosy Komba Island

On the first day, you will arrive at Nosy Be Archipelago. A representative will meet and welcome you at Nosy Be Airport, then transfer you to Hell-Ville, where you will continue by boat to Tsara Komba Lodge.

You will spend the next three nights in Nosy Komba (Lemur Island), the most popular island in the Nosy Be Archipelago.

There are many activities to enjoy at the hotel or the beach, including visits to local villages, snorkeling, beach volleyball, racketball, badminton, frisbee, canoe trips, reading, or indoor games.

Day 4: Fly to Antananarivo & Travel to Andasibe

After a delicious breakfast, you will check out of Tsara Komba Lodge and be transferred to the airport for your domestic flight to Antananarivo. Upon arrival, your guide will meet you, and you will drive to Andasibe through green, lush landscapes with rice fields, waterfalls, and small forest areas.

Along the way, you will pass villages of the Merina people. After checking in to your hotel, you will go on a night walk in the Andasibe area to see night-active lemurs and other nocturnal wildlife.

Day 5: Wildlife Watching in Andasibe National Park

In the early morning, after breakfast, you will visit the Andasibe Reserve. Your guide will help you look for the indri, the largest lemur species, along with other wildlife like orchids, chameleons, tenrecs, and many birds.

In the afternoon, you will visit the V.O.I.I.M.A Community Reserve, home to brown lemurs, indris, chameleons, geckos, and birds.

Day 6: Return to Antananarivo & City Tour

After breakfast, you will drive back to Antananarivo. Along the way, you will stop for lunch at the Reptile & Butterfly Farm (lunch at your own cost).

On arrival in Antananarivo, you’ll spend the afternoon touring the capital, also known as the “City of Thousands,” where the first king began uniting the island’s kingdoms. Later, you will check into your luxury hotel.

Day 7: Fly to Fort Dauphin & Drive to Mandrare River Camp

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Ivato Airport for your two-hour flight to Fort Dauphin on the southeast coast. Upon landing, your guide will meet you and take you for lunch in Fort Dauphin, then drive you on a three-hour journey to the Antandroy Spiny Forest (a charter flight is available at extra cost).

Along the way, you’ll see rice fields, tropical vegetation, and forests, followed by sisal plantations and dry Spiny Forest. In the evening, you will settle into your luxury tented camp and relax with views across the Mandrare River.

Day 8: Explore the Sacred Antandroy Forest & Local Culture

After breakfast, you will go on a guided tour of the sacred Antandroy Forest. You will cross the river on foot to observe lemurs, birds, and the tombs of the Antandroy ancestors. Your guide will explain the local culture and ancestor worship traditions.

Afterward, return to the camp for a buffet lunch. In the afternoon, you are free to relax or join optional activities like visiting giant sand dunes at Lake Anony, watching the sunset at the baobabs, going on a night walk, seeing more lemurs and birds, enjoying traditional dance performances, or visiting a village or local school.

Day 9: Leisure Day with Optional Activities at Mandrare River Camp

This day is yours to enjoy as you wish. Your guide can suggest activities based on your interests. Mornings and late afternoons are the best times for activities to avoid the strong midday sun.

The camp is surrounded by beautiful forests, and with permission, you can explore them with a guide to experience Madagascar’s nature up close.

Day 10: Return to Antananarivo & Departure

On your last day, you will say goodbye to the forests, lemurs, and beaches. You will drive back to Fort Dauphin for your flight to Antananarivo, where you will connect to your international flight home, carrying memories of Madagascar that will last a lifetime.
