Detailed 5-Day Triple Gorilla Trekking Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Our guide will pick you up at Kigali International Airport and transfer you to Musanze, north of Rwanda. Volcanoes National Park, the only home of Rwanda gorillas, is found in Musanze. On arrival, retire at your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: First Gorilla Trekking
Wake up early and head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing, where the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking are explained and you are assigned to a gorilla group.
Accompanied by an armed safari ranger, venture into the jungle of Volcanoes National Park to search for mountain gorillas. Trekking may last from 2 to 8 hours, depending on how long it takes to locate the gorillas. Park rangers often locate the gorillas beforehand and guide you in the right direction, saving time. When you encounter the gorillas, you have an hour to observe them.
Afterward, return to the park headquarters to receive your gorilla trekking certificate showing the mountain gorilla family you tracked.
Day 3: Second Gorilla Trekking
