Detailed 3-Day Chimp Trekking Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, meet your guide and set off for western Uganda through Fort Portal town. Stop along the way for lunch and to try local snacks before continuing to Kibale Forest National Park. On arrival, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before entering the forest. The trek usually takes 4 to 5 hours, including a full hour observing the chimpanzees once you find them.
Watch them feed, play, and interact in their natural habitat. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and rest. In the afternoon, join a guided walk at Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, where you can spot many bird species and other small primates.
Optional activity: Choose the Chimpanzee Habituation Experience (CHEX) instead of regular trekking to spend more time with the chimps.
Day 3: Return to Kampala
After breakfast, begin the drive back to Kampala. Stop at cultural sites such as the Karambi Tombs and Tooro Palace, with lunch along the route.
