Detailed 3-Day Chimp Trekking Tour Itinerary
Day 1 – Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After an early morning breakfast, you will meet a guide from our Uganda tour company and set off for western Uganda, driving through Fort Portal.
Along the way, you will make a few stopovers for lunch and to sample some African snacks before continuing on to Kibale Forest National Park.
Day 2 – Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale
Begin your day with an early breakfast and then head to the park headquarters for a short briefing before entering the forest to track the chimpanzees.
You will spend 4 to 5 hours in the forest, including a full hour of close interaction with these primates.
Afterward, you will return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation, followed by an afternoon Bigodi Swamp Walk, where you can expect to see a wide variety of bird species.
Optional Activity: If you prefer to spend a whole day with the chimpanzees, you can opt for the Chimpanzee Habituation Experience (CHEX) instead of regular chimpanzee tracking.
However, choosing the habituation experience means missing out on the Bigodi Swamp Walk, as the habituation experience will take up most of your day.
Day 3 – Transfer Back to Kampala
On the last day, you will return to Kampala, stopping at a few cultural sites en route, such as the Karambi Tombs and Tooro Palace.
You will also stop for lunch before arriving in Kampala in the evening to catch your departure flight. This marks the end of your Uganda vacation.
