Detailed Uganda Gorilla Trekking and Serengeti Wildlife Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and City Tour in Kampala
On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, your driver guide will meet you for a brief city tour, including the reptile village, the Masengere Palace, and a museum covering Uganda’s cultural and historical background. Have lunch in the city, then transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, check out for a 9 to 10 hour drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas along with birds, plants, and forest mammals.
Stop for lunch along the way, taking in the countryside, homesteads, plantations, and Ankole long-horned cattle. Check into your lodge in your chosen trekking sector for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking and the Batwa Encounter
After breakfast at the lodge, drive to the park headquarters for a briefing from park rangers on gorilla behavior and trekking rules before being assigned to a gorilla family. The trek lasts about 1 to 8 hours, with an extra hour for photos and observation once you find the gorillas.
Return to the lodge for lunch, followed by an afternoon visit with the Batwa pygmies, lasting about 2 hours, learning about their traditional lifestyle, dance, and songs. Dinner and overnight stay follow.
Day 4: Bwindi to Arusha, Tanzania
After breakfast, check out for the drive back to Entebbe Airport, with a stop at the Equator for lunch and photos. Take a regional flight to Arusha in northern Tanzania. On arrival, our representative will meet you and transfer you to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Arusha to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, check out for the drive to Serengeti National Park, one of the most visited parks in Africa, with views of rolling hills and plantations along the way. Stop for lunch en route. The drive to your lodge through the park offers a chance to see sunset views and wildlife along the way. Dinner and overnight stay mark the end of the day.
Day 6: Full Day Game Drive
After breakfast at the lodge, join a full day game drive across the Serengeti plains, looking for lions, wildebeests, zebras, elephants, cheetahs, impalas, rhinos, and warthogs, along with birds such as flamingos, lovebirds, egrets, and turacos. Enjoy a bush breakfast and picnic lunch in the wild, with dinner and rest at the lodge.
Day 7: Full Day Cultural Encounter
After breakfast, transfer to a local Maasai community for a day learning about their culture, including traditional dress, dancing, and singing. See the Manyattas, homes where newly circumcised boys stay. Have lunch in the community, then return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Departure
Start the day with coffee, then check out of the lodge for a transfer to Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport for your onward flight.
