Detailed 15-Day African Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport
On arrival in Uganda, our representative will welcome you, brief you on the safari, and hand over your gorilla and chimpanzee permits. Transfer to your hotel in Kampala to rest and prepare for the safari ahead.
Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, drive to Kibale Forest National Park, home to over 13 primate species, including chimpanzees, L’Hoest’s monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, red-tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, and black and white colobus monkeys, along with elephants, buffaloes, and over 350 bird species.
The drive takes 6 to 7 hours, with stops in Mubende for a cultural tour of the Nakayima Tree and in Fort Portal for lunch. Arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking Experience within Kibale Forest
Start the day with tea or coffee, then prepare for your chimpanzee trek with the right clothing and supplies before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing.
Split into groups of 6, then head into the forest to search for the chimps, spending an hour with them once found. Lunch takes place in the jungle or at the lodge.
In the afternoon, visit Bigodi Village to learn about community-based tourism, followed by the Bigodi Wetland nature walk. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for Gorilla Trekking
After breakfast, leave Kibale Forest for Bwindi Forest via Queen Elizabeth National Park, with lunch en route. Arrive at one of Bwindi’s four gorilla trekking sectors in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Gorilla Trekking Experience and Drive to Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking rules and expectations. Split into groups of 8, get assigned a ranger guide, and hire a porter if needed.
Treks in Bwindi take 1 to 6 hours, with one hour allowed with the gorillas once found, viewed from about 7 meters away. Return to the lodge for lunch, then drive to Lake Bunyonyi.
In the afternoon, take a boat or canoe ride on Lake Bunyonyi, Africa’s second deepest lake, exploring its islands and bird species.
Day 6: Drive to Entebbe International Airport
Enjoy breakfast overlooking Lake Bunyonyi, then drive back to Entebbe Town, with lunch in Mbarara Town along the way. Arrive in Entebbe for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Fly to Kilimanjaro International Airport
After breakfast, depart for Kigali International Airport, where you take a flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport to begin your Tanzania tour.
Day 8: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast, continue to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, known for its wide range of wildlife. Have lunch on arrival and spend the rest of the day enjoying your lodge surroundings.
Day 9: Full Day Ngorongoro Conservation Area Safari
After breakfast, join a game drive to the crater floor, home to black rhinos, Masai giraffes, waterbucks, zebras, elands, bush elephants, hippos, kobs, cape buffaloes, oribis, and leopards.
Bring a packed lunch for the game drive, then return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 10: Continue to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, drive through the Ndutu Plains of the Ngorongoro-Serengeti ecosystem. Serengeti National Park is home to the wildebeest migration and one of the largest populations of big cats in Africa, with wildlife visible along the way to your lodge.
Day 11: Full Day Game Drive through the Serengeti Plains
After breakfast, join a sunrise game drive across the Serengeti Plains, looking for spotted hyenas, leopards, lions, zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, bush elephants, cheetahs, cape buffaloes, and giraffes, with a picnic lunch in the wild.
You may witness the wildebeest migration during your visit. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 12: Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya
After breakfast, travel to Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve, crossing the Kenya-Tanzania border. Have lunch on arrival and rest for the remainder of the day.
Day 13: Full Day Game Drive through Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, pack your lunch, camera, and binoculars for a full day game drive in search of the Big Five, Masai giraffes, antelopes, and bird species, taking in the landscape and sunset views over the plains. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 14: Return to Nairobi City
After breakfast, travel to Nairobi via the Great Rift Valley, arriving in the afternoon for lunch, with the evening free to relax.
Day 15: Tour of the Giraffe Center in Nairobi and Departure
After breakfast at your hotel in Nairobi, visit the Giraffe Center before transferring to the airport for your flight to your next destination.
