Book this 7-Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking and Zanzibar Beach Tour to trek mountain gorillas, then relax on Zanzibar’s beaches.

This tour combines gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with a beach holiday on Zanzibar Island. Bwindi protects 459 of the world’s remaining 1,063 mountain gorillas, with treks starting from any of the park’s four sectors: Rushaga, Buhoma, Ruhija, and Nkuringo.

Zanzibar, also known as Spice Island, offers white sand beaches, unique culture, and history along the East African coast. This tour starts in Kampala or Entebbe, Uganda, and ends in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Detailed Gorilla Trekking and Zanzibar Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park from Kampala or Entebbe

Meet your safari leader for tea or coffee, then begin the 8 to 9 hour drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. Drive via Masaka and Mbarara to Kabale, with a stop at the Equator crossing and lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre.

Continue to Bwindi, taking in Uganda’s scenery along the way, and check in at your lodge.

Day 2: Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Adventure

After breakfast, attend a 7 am briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette. The trek can take a full day, so bring snacks and water.

Head into Bwindi Forest at 8 am after being assigned a gorilla family and park guide. The trek involves steep slopes, and once you find the gorillas, you have one hour with them, keeping a distance of 8 to 10 meters.

After the trek, relax back at the lodge, then join a cultural visit to the Batwa community to round out your gorilla experience in Bwindi.

Day 3: Flight to Entebbe and Connect to Zanzibar via Dar es Salaam

After breakfast, drive back to Entebbe Airport for a connecting flight to Zanzibar Island, known for its spices, white sand beaches, and history. Overnight stay at a resort hotel in Zanzibar.

Day 4: Zanzibar Island Holiday

Enjoy breakfast, then relax at the hotel as long as you like. Spend the day at the beach, with optional activities like snorkeling, diving, and biking, then head to a beach bar to close out your day.

Day 5: From Stone Town to Nungwi Island

After breakfast, take a trip to Nungwi for snorkeling and a sail in a traditional dhow to one of the reefs, spending 1 to 2 hours taking in the marine life in the coral.

Day 6: Zanzibar Exploration, the Entire Day

After breakfast, head to Stone Town along the west coast, about 1.5 hours away, for a full day exploring the island.

Day 7: Get Back to Zanzibar Airport for Departure

Enjoy tea or coffee, then leave your hotel for the return trip to Zanzibar Airport, where you take your flight home, marking the end of your 7-day tour.

Book this 7-Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking and Zanzibar Beach Tour today and combine mountain gorilla trekking with island relaxation on Zanzibar.
