Book this 7-Day Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route Climb for one of the most scenic and unspoilt paths to the summit.

The Lemosho route is one of the less used routes up Kilimanjaro. As a result, it has a beautiful, unspoilt character up to the Shira Plateau. It is also one of the more difficult but scenic routes. Along the way, it takes you through different habitats with amazing views.

Detailed 7-Day Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route Climb Itinerary

Day 1: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa

Our company representative will pick you up from your hotel after breakfast. Then, we will drive you from Arusha or Moshi to Londorossi Gate for registration and formalities. From here, drive to the Lemosho route trailhead. Next, start your ascent through beautiful lush green forest to the first camp, Mti Mkubwa. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp

After breakfast, continue on the trail leading out of the rainforest into a moorland zone, where trees give way to grass. Then, ascend through rolling hills and cross several streams as the trail steepens up the Shira Ridge to the top of the Shira Plateau.

Along the way, take short breaks to enjoy the scenic views of the Lemosho route. At the edge of the plateau, enjoy stunning views of Kibo. Afterward, make a short descent to Shira 1 Camp. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Moir Hut

After an early breakfast, explore the Shira Plateau on a gentle walk east across moorland meadows toward Shira 2 Camp. Then, divert from the main trail to Moir Hut, a less frequented camp at the base of Lent Hills used by hikers on the Lemosho route.

Also, walks to Lent Hills offer excellent opportunities for acclimatization. Dinner and overnight stay at Moir Hut.

Day 4: Moir Hut to Barranco Camp

After breakfast, continue your ascent eastward up a ridge, then southeast toward the Lava Tower, where you will take a break for lunch. Afterward, continue hiking around the southwestern side of the mountain, enjoying different vegetation patterns along the way.

After a long day of hiking, descend to picturesque Barranco Camp. From here, you will see the Great Barranco Wall you will climb the next morning. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp

After an early breakfast, walk to the base of the Barranco Wall. It looks intimidating but needs no technical skill to climb. Upon reaching the top, take a short break to enjoy the view. Then, cross a series of hills and valleys before descending sharply into Karanga Valley for a lunch break.

Next, leave Karanga and hit the junction connecting with the Mweka Trail. From there, continue up the rocky section to Barafu Hut, completing the Southern Circuit. Have an early dinner and rest, as you will attempt your final summit ascent that night.

Day 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

A wake up call at 23:30 hrs or midnight starts your final ascent to the summit after hot tea. This is the most physically challenging portion of the trek, with extreme cold at this elevation. So, ascend slowly and steadily with short breaks, arriving at Stella Point at dawn for a breathtaking sunrise, weather permitting.

Then, continue to Uhuru Peak, the roof of Africa. Time on the summit depends on weather conditions. Take photos, then begin your rocky descent to Mweka Camp via Barafu Camp for rest and lunch. Finally, arrive in the late afternoon for dinner and a well deserved rest.

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

After an early breakfast, descend to Mweka Gate through lush green forest, with a chance of wildlife sightings, rain, and muddy paths. On arrival, receive your summit certificate, whether you reached Uhuru Peak or Stella Point. Afterward, your driver will take you to Mweka Village for lunch. Then, you will be dropped at your hotel in Arusha or Moshi for celebrations, dinner, and overnight stay.

So book this 7-Day Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route Climb today for one of the most scenic and rewarding paths to Uhuru Peak.
