Day 2: Leisure Day in Arusha Town
Day two is for leisure and acclimatization. Relax by the swimming pool or explore the lodge surroundings.
You have the option to participate in activities such as hiking, canoeing, a city tour, or nature walks. Your tour guide will provide a briefing.
Day 3: Explore Arusha National Park
After a delicious breakfast, drive to Arusha National Park—the starting point of the safari—accompanied by your guide.
Arusha National Park is a birding paradise with lakes, waterfalls, swamps, tropical rainforests, and volcanic mountains. It attracts flamingos, silvery-cheeked hornbills, and a variety of other bird species. The park is also home to black and white colobus monkeys found only in northern Tanzania.
Day 4: Leisure day at a hotel in Arusha
In addition to relaxing by the pool, you can participate in activities such as horse riding, visiting local markets, nature walks, canoeing at Lake Duluti, mountain biking tours through villages and scenic landscapes, visiting Materuni Waterfalls at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, and walking through coffee plantations.
Day 5: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After a satisfying breakfast, embark on a drive to Tarangire National Park for a full day of game drives.
Tarangire is one of Tanzania’s lesser-known parks, offering an authentic safari experience. Against the backdrop of the breathtaking blue sky, Tarangire’s landscape is dotted with majestic Baobab trees.
At Tarangire River, you can observe over three hundred elephants as they drink and play on the sandbanks along the shoreline.
As mentioned earlier, Tarangire National Park is a significant birding area. Other animals visible in the park include lions, elephants, leopards, cheetahs, and climbing pythons.
Day 6-8: Serengeti National Park
On the sixth day, proceed to Serengeti National Park and witness its magnificent landscapes, often featured in documentaries.
The park is characterized by vast plains, abundant wildlife, and the annual wildebeest migration into Serengeti National Park.
Zebras and gazelles are among the animals commonly seen across the plains of Serengeti National Park.
Your safari guide will lead you through the park’s plains, offering opportunities to view migratory animals and their accompanying predators searching for prey, such as lions, cheetahs, leopards, and more.
A highly recommended activity is a balloon safari, providing a 360-degree view of wild game.
Day 9: Explore Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area and observe various wildlife. Descend to the floor of Ngorongoro Crater for spectacular views.
The collapsed volcano is home to diverse ecosystems and a wide range of vegetation types. Animals visible in the crater include lions, elephants, buffaloes, rhinoceroses, and hippos—all members of the Big Five are present in Ngorongoro Crater.
The Crater Lake offers breathtaking beauty, earning it a place among Africa’s seven natural wonders. While here, consider visiting nearby Maasai villages or the Elephant Caves, equally spectacular.
Day 10-14: Fly to Zanzibar. Spend 4 days at leisure
The next four days offer a great opportunity to visit the enchanting Zanzibar Island, known for its miles of white sandy beaches lined with palm trees and surrounded by the azure waters of the Indian Ocean.
Activities include visiting coral reefs, swimming alongside tropical reef fish, sunbathing, surfing, snorkeling, and diving in the crystal-clear waters of the Indian Ocean.
Day 15: Fly from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam. Departure
After an early breakfast, transfer to the nearby airstrip or take a speedboat to connect to Dar es Salaam for your return flight home, marking the culmination of your 15-day Zanzibar safari.
