Detailed 7-Day Kenya Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi City to Masai Mara National Reserve

The beautiful and secluded wilderness of Masai Mara National Reserve is an easy 5 hour road trip from Nairobi City. Along the way, enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the Great Rift Valley.

Lunch will be en route. Then, on arrival at the reserve, check in at the lodge for relaxation. In the evening, join a game drive and return to the tented camp for a hot meal and overnight.

Day 2: Full Day Game Viewing in Masai Mara National Reserve

Start your morning with breakfast at the lodge, then spend the full day exploring Masai Mara National Reserve on a game drive. See the Big Five, including elephants, buffaloes, lions, and black rhinos. You will also spot hippos, cheetahs, wildebeests, Thompson’s gazelles, impalas, and zebras roaming the savanna plains and hills crossed by the Talek and Mara Rivers.

An optional visit to a nearby Masai village also offers a cultural tour to learn about local traditions, foods, and dances. Afterward, close your evening with bonfires at the lodge.

Day 3: Transfer from Masai Mara National Reserve to Lake Nakuru National Park

Early in the morning, have breakfast and then drive from Masai Mara National Reserve to Lake Nakuru National Park, home to the greater and lesser flamingos.

On arrival, start a game drive to see black and white rhinos, buffaloes, lions, and many other animals.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru National Park to Hell’s Gate National Park via Naivasha

Rise early, have breakfast, and then embark on a game drive through Lake Nakuru National Park, where lush grasslands support a wide range of wildlife and bird species. See white rhinos, lions, giraffes, and leopards. You will also spot buffaloes, impalas, elephants, hippos, yellow baboons, and pink flamingos.

The game drive lasts 3 to 4 hours, after which you depart for Naivasha. Stop en route for lunch, then continue to Hell’s Gate National Park.

Enjoy a biking tour or game drive through the park, with views of water-filled gorges, towering cliffs, and rock towers. This makes it one of the most beautiful parks in Africa. Afterward, take a short boat ride on Lake Naivasha before dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Hell’s Gate National Park to Amboseli National Park

Early in the morning, have breakfast and then drive to Amboseli National Park, Kenya’s second most popular destination. It is known for its free-ranging elephants and the backdrop of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro.

Enjoy game drives along the way, then check in at your lodge for lunch.

Next, enjoy a rewarding game drive with views of zebras, Masai giraffes, wildebeests, lions, and leopards. You may also spot hippos, free-ranging elephants, and Mount Kilimanjaro. Afterward, dine and rest at your lodge.

Day 6: Full Day Game Viewing in Amboseli National Park

Explore the beautiful savanna plains of Amboseli, one of Kenya’s smallest and most beautiful national parks. Spend the whole day discovering its wildlife, including elephants, wildebeests, hippos, giraffes, and zebras, set against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. Then, retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Amboseli National Park to Nairobi City

After a delicious breakfast, drive back to Nairobi City for onward flights home or to other destinations.
