Detailed 5-Day Serengeti & Ngorongoro Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Pick Up from Arusha
Our driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. There, you will receive a briefing on the days ahead. During the journey, you might catch a glimpse of flamingos foraging at Lake Manyara.
Check in at your leisure and unwind. Then, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in preparation for the adventure ahead.
Day 2: Exploring Lake Manyara and Maasai Village
Rise early for breakfast, then head out to Lake Manyara for a morning safari. Lake Manyara offers scenic views of Tanzania’s northern plains and the Great East African Rift Valley. Here, you will find buffaloes, various antelope species, blue monkeys, and remarkable birdlife. The park is also known for its tree-climbing lions, a rare sight also found in the Ishasha Sector in western Uganda.
Next, enjoy a picnic lunch in the Tanzanian wilderness. Afterward, proceed to a Maasai Village for a community experience and a look at local school projects.
Later in the afternoon, navigate the Rift escarpments to reach the crater rim, where you will spend the night.
Day 3: Transfer to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, head out for Ngorongoro Crater. On the way, you will see the renowned Olduvai Gorge, a top anthropological site where researchers documented the earliest evidence of prehistoric man.
Ngorongoro is a phenomenal volcano with a natural amphitheater, formed when the volcano collapsed on itself. The crater is home to the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo), which roam its approximately 25 km radius. Exploring the crater in the morning offers fantastic game views and stunning scenery. In fact, many call it the eighth wonder of the world.
After lunch, journey on to the Serengeti in central Tanzania.
Day 4: Full Day Serengeti Exploration
Wake up early for a quick breakfast and set off for a full day exploring Serengeti National Park. A game drive here offers an excellent chance to see all of the Big Five in their natural habitat. You will also explore the park’s well known riverine areas.
Return to the lodge for lunch. Then, continue with an evening game drive or enjoy a picnic in the wilderness. Serengeti is Tanzania’s oldest gazetted wildlife sanctuary. Each year, it hosts the migration of more than 1.5 million wildebeests and over 200,000 zebras.
Day 5: Short Game Drive and Transfer Back to Arusha
After a leisurely breakfast, enjoy a brief game drive on your way to Seronera Central Airstrip. Then, fly back to Arusha for your departure or onward plans.
We recommend carrying sturdy hiking boots, insect repellent, and sunscreen. Also, keep your travel documents in order.
So book this 5-Day Serengeti and Ngorongoro Safari today and see the Big Five in two of Tanzania’s greatest wilderness destinations.
