This three-day safari takes travelers to Awash National Park, home to 460 bird species and various wildlife, including Beisa Oryx, desert warthogs, and baboons.
On the first day, they drive from Addis Ababa, stopping at Debre Zeit Crater Lakes and Lake Beseka before exploring Awash Falls and spotting wildlife on an evening game drive.
The next day, they visit Ilala grasslands and Doho Hot Springs, then travel to Ali Dege National Park to see gerenuks, zebras, and bustards.
On the final day, they return to Addis Ababa, stopping at Debre Zeit for relaxation before heading to the airport.
Day 1: Addis Ababa – Awash National Park
We will drive to Awash National Park in the morning, covering about 230 kilometers from Addis Ababa.
Along the way, we will stop at the Debre Zeit Crater Lakes and pass through volcanic hills and valleys. We will also visit Lake Beseka, which is home to a variety of bird species, including: Wattled Ibis, Pink-backed Pelican, African Fish Eagle and Saddle-billed Stork.
We will also have the opportunity to meet the Kereyu tribe, a nomadic people known for their large herds of camels.
In the afternoon, we will enter Awash National Park for an evening game drive and explore the stunning Awash Falls. We hope to spot oryx, greater and lesser kudus, baboons, and possibly some wild cats.
After our safari, we will head to our lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Awash National Park – Ali Dege National Park
We will begin the day with an early morning game drive around Awash National Park, focusing on the Ilala grasslands and Awash Falls.
Here, we expect to see: Olive Baboons, Waterbucks, Bushbucks, Beisa Oryx and Various endemic and water birds.
After the game drive, we will visit the Doho Hot Springs. Our accommodation overlooks Lake Doho, which was formed by the hot springs in the area. You can relax by the lake, enjoy the scenery, or take a walk to visit the Afar villages.
In the afternoon, we will drive 70 kilometers to Ali Dege National Park, where we hope to see: Gerenuk, Kori Bustard, Zebras and the Arabian Bustard.
Day 3: Awash – Addis Ababa
After breakfast, we will head back to Addis Ababa via the express highway.
On the way, we will make a stop at Debre Zeit, where you can relax at one of the many resorts before continuing to Addis Ababa for your flight back home.
