Detailed 7-Day Etosha National Park & Namibia Historical Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Pick Up from Windhoek to Sossusvlei

Your guide will pick you up from Windhoek Airport and drive you through Sossusvlei, sharing details about the country along the way.

Check in at your lodge, where staff will serve lunch as you take in the scenery. In the evening, join a sightseeing trip through the desert plains, with good photo opportunities in the desert scenery.

Return to the lodge at dusk for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Explore Sossusvlei, Desert Walk, Excursion to Sesriem Canyon

Enjoy breakfast at sunrise, then take a desert walk in the dry plains, looking for wildlife found in the semi-desert, including aardvark, gemsbok, springbok, oryx, meerkat, aardwolf, oribi, bat-eared fox, Namaqua chameleons, and leopard tortoises.

Continue viewing animals through the morning, then return to the lodge around midday for lunch as it gets hotter.

Take an excursion to Sesriem Canyon, a good spot for sightseeing and photography, with sedimentary rock formed by the Tsauchab River over a million years.

Return to the lodge at sunset to relax on the balcony with a drink, followed by dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Sossusvlei to Swakopmund, National Marine Aquarium

Enjoy breakfast at dawn, then pack and check out. Drive to Swakopmund, a journey of about 5 hours and 21 minutes.

On arrival, transfer to your hotel and relax, taking in the views of the town. Have lunch at noon, then visit the National Marine Aquarium, a good spot for photography and a chance to see marine life native to the Atlantic Ocean.

Drive back to the hotel at sunset to relax and enjoy the nightlife in Swakopmund before overnight stay.

Day 4: Swakopmund Full Day Exploration, Museum and Camel Rides

Enjoy breakfast at sunrise, then transfer to the Swakopmund Museum to learn about the remains of Namibia’s early inhabitants, with guides explaining each artifact.

After lunch, drive to the Swakopmund camel farm for camelback rides and photos.

Drive back to the hotel at sundown to relax and take in the sunset, followed by dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Swakopmund to Etosha National Park, Southern Sector

Enjoy breakfast, then check out and drive to the southern sector of Etosha National Park, a journey of about 5 hours and 10 minutes.

On arrival, drive gently through the park to see some of its animals, especially the Big Five. Head to your lodge at midday for lunch and relax.

Join an evening walking safari near the lodge to see birds, plants, and animals, including leopard tortoises, bat-eared foxes, aardwolves, oribis, and springboks.

Return to the lodge at dusk for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Explore Etosha National Park

Enjoy breakfast at sunrise, then join a morning guided game drive to see more of the park’s animals, especially the Big Five and other predators, including servals, genets, spotted hyenas, and snakes.

Transfer to the lodge at midday to relax and have lunch. Continue with an afternoon game drive to explore more of the park’s plants and animals.

As the sun sets, drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Exit Etosha National Park, Return to Windhoek

Enjoy breakfast, then check out of the lodge and drive back to Windhoek, a journey of about 3 hours and 50 minutes.

On arrival in Windhoek, board your flight home, marking the end of your 7-day Namibia safari.
