3 Days Tsavo East/West National Park Elephant Safari – This 3-day trip to Tsavo East and West National Parks offers the ultimate game viewing safari starting and ending in the cities of Mombasa or Nairobi.
Visitors have the opportunity to spend one night in each park and expect to encounter a diverse array of wildlife including red-colored elephants, duikers, lions, cheetahs, ostriches, Masai giraffes, genets, leopards, Cape buffaloes, impalas, yellow baboons, wildebeests, white rhinos, hippos, zebras, hartebeests, hyraxes, bushbucks, aardwolves, Kirk’s dik-dik, Cape elands, and gazelles among others.
Detailed Tsavo Wildlife Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Mombasa or Nairobi City to Tsavo East National Park
Depart from your hotel in Mombasa or Nairobi City at 6:00 am and proceed to Tsavo East National Park via the Mombasa-Nairobi route.
Enter the park through Bachuma Gate where you’ll be greeted by curious yellow baboons, elephants, buffaloes, lions, duikers, Cape elands, wildebeests, and more.
Your park ranger will lead you to the popular Aruba Dam where a wide array of animals can be spotted. Continue to the tented camp for a hot meal.
In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive through the park with sightings of hartebeests, fringe-eared oryx, red-colored elephants, leopards, bushbucks, gerenuk, yellow baboons, hippos, hirola, hyenas, impalas, Masai giraffes, cheetahs, lesser kudu, and black rhinos, accompanied by breathtaking views of the African sunset.
Dinner and overnight at the reserved tented camp.
Day 2: Drive from Tsavo East to Tsavo West National Park
Wake up early for a guided game drive through Tsavo East before breakfast. Witness the magnificent African sunrise over the savannah plains while spotting animals such as hyenas, cheetahs, leopards, lions, elephants, zebras, buffaloes, and duikers.
After breakfast, depart Tsavo East and proceed to Tsavo West National Park with a stop at the Rhino Sanctuary en-route.
Enjoy lunch upon arrival at the lodge, followed by a late afternoon game drive. Visit the Shetani Lava Flow point for stunning views of the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Return to the reserved lodge or luxury tented camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Nairobi or Mombasa City
Embark on a sunrise game drive to witness Mother Nature at its best, observing early risers such as lions, cheetahs, leopards, as well as grazers like zebras, bushbucks, duikers, and browsers such as Masai giraffes feeding on Acacia trees.
Experience memorable game viewing with occasional sightings of klipspringer, lesser kudu, gerenuk, rhinos, lions, oryx, leopards, and zebras among others.
Return to the lodge or camp for breakfast and proceed on the final game drive in Tsavo West. Your guide will make a stop at Mzima Springs, where you can expect to see more wildlife and enjoy breathtaking views along the way, including migratory birds, hippos, and crocodiles.
Exit Tsavo West National Park and return to Mombasa City with lunch en-route at the spectacular Lion Hill restaurant.
The 3-day Tsavo East & West Safari concludes in the late afternoon.
