This safari takes you to Awash National Park, home to 460 bird species and animals such as the Beisa oryx, desert warthogs, and baboons.

On the first day, drive from Addis Ababa, stopping at the Debre Zeit Crater Lakes and Lake Beseka before exploring Awash Falls and looking for wildlife on an evening game drive.

Detailed 3-Day Awash National Park Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Addis Ababa to Awash National Park

Drive to Awash National Park in the morning, about 230km from Addis Ababa. Along the way, stop at the Debre Zeit Crater Lakes and pass through volcanic hills and valleys. Also visit Lake Beseka, home to birds such as the wattled ibis, pink-backed pelican, African fish eagle, and saddle-billed stork.

You will also have the chance to meet the Kereyu tribe, a nomadic people known for their large herds of camels.

In the afternoon, enter Awash National Park for an evening game drive and explore Awash Falls. Look for oryx, greater and lesser kudus, baboons, and possibly some wild cats.

After the game drive, head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Awash National Park to Ali Dege National Park

Start the day with an early morning game drive around Awash National Park, focusing on the Ilala grasslands and Awash Falls, looking for olive baboons, waterbucks, bushbucks, Beisa oryx, and various endemic and water birds.

After the game drive, visit Doho Hot Springs. Your accommodation overlooks Lake Doho, formed by the hot springs. Relax by the lake, enjoy the scenery, or walk to visit the Afar villages.

In the afternoon, drive 70km to Ali Dege National Park, looking for gerenuk, kori bustard, zebras, and the Arabian bustard.

Day 3: Awash to Addis Ababa

After breakfast, head back to Addis Ababa on the express highway. On the way, stop at Debre Zeit, where you can relax at one of the resorts before continuing to Addis Ababa for your flight home.
