Trip Overview
In this 3 days safari, you get to visit one of Tanzania’s top safari destinations for adventure, rest, and unforgettable memories. You will head north to the world’s largest caldera, and home to Africa’s Big 5 animals; the black rhinos, elephants, lions, leopards and the African buffalos. This is a road trip to the rural parts of the country where you have uninterrupted escape.
Ngorongoro conservation area was established in 1959, covering the Ngorongoro crater, and Olduvai Gorge; the historical site of Zinjanthropus, the first inhabitants of earth. You will have a full-day game drive, and lots of surprises during your tour of the conservation area. You will be exploring a place that was reportedly discovered by an Austrian explorer; Oscar Baumann in the 1800s. In 2015, it was named among the 7 natural wonders in Africa. Your safari starts and ends at Arusha Tanzania.
Detailed safari
Day1: Arusha to Ngorongoro conservation area
Today, you will meet and greet our driver guide at the airport, and formalize with the documentation and briefing by the driver guide. Afterwards, you will hit the road to Ngorongoro crater, with an enroute stopover at the historical Olduvai gorge to study the first inhabitants on Earth. It is believed that the Olduvai gorge is the site of Zinjanthropus, the fossils of the oldest first inhabitants of the earth.
The journey proceeds afterwards with breathtaking views of the landscape, plants, busy towns and the dotted homesteads. Lunch will be served enroute, and a late arrival at the lodge for refreshment, dinner and a sweet slumber. When you arrive early, there will be a guided hike to the top of the crater, with a view of the stunning landscape and animal hideouts. This is one of the world’s natural wonders.
Day2: Explore the Ngorongoro crater
Wake up to a vibrant day, with your spirit ready to take clear photos, eyes set for unforgettable views, and the ears keen to the sound of the wilderness calls in the over 6-7 hours of exploration. Breakfast and lunch will be served in the animal kingdom. Ngorongoro area has the world’s largest unbroken land dormant caldera. It boasts over 300 unique animal species, inclusive of the African big5 cats; namely; the lions, leopards, Buffaloes, Rhinos, and the African elephant.
Other attractions you will hope to encounter at the park are; the wildebeests, zebras, cheetahs, impalas, kuddus, hippos, hyenas, different antelope species, golden jackals, Jackson’s widowbird, anteater chat, lesser flamingos, black kite, African spoonbill, Kori bustard, Speke’s weaver and more, plants species such as the Acacia Abyssinian benth, abutilon indicium, chick pea, Bermuda grass, blue Jacaranda and yellow oleander. After a long day of photography and game drive, you will return to the lodge at sunset for refreshment, dinner and overnight stay.
Day3: Ngorongoro to Arusha Tanzania
Have enough sleep on your third day of the Ngorongoro tour. Your flight time will help you determine the departure time and any possibility of having an activity today. After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge for a departure to Arusha / Kilimanjaro National Park. Feel free to share with the guide your desire for the last day as we can have a tour around the city before departure.
