Safari Overview
Embark on the extended 10-Day Tanzania safari, explore some of the finest African safari destinations including Serengeti National Park, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, and Tarangire National Park. This trip package combines memorable wildlife encounters and cultural experiences. Expect to see high concentration of wildlife, especially the big 5 game, witness the great migration and also keep eyes on other mammals like impalas, cheetahs, hyenas, warthogs, hippos and diverse bird species.
The Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up & transfer to your hotel in Arusha
Meet a well-trained and experienced guide from Tanzania for a quick briefing and you will be transferred from the airport to the pre-booked hotel facility within Arusha town. Have a relaxed stay, leisurely dinner and preparation for the next day’s program while in your hotel.
Day 2: Transfer by car to Lake Manyara, game drive in the afternoon
Start your journey to the spectacular Lake Manyara National Park, one of the best places to locate the tree climbing lions. Between Arusha and Lake Manyara NP is 2.5 hours depending on the speed of your driver. The park is set between the Great Rift Valley and Lake Manyara, expanding up to 325sq.km.
Lake Manyara NP is most popular not only for tree climbing lions often spotted relaxed on the acacia and sausage trees; huge flocks of pink flamingos and others. You will have an exciting game drive in the afternoon and expect to encounter giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, antelope families, and birds.
Day 3: Full day Lake Manyara game viewing
Have a hefty breakfast and set off for the morning game drive. This session allows you come across diversity of wildlife, especially early risers adding into the list you spotted during the previous afternoon game drive. You will have addition of a canoe ride provided the water levels are high and this is perfectly done from June to October. A canoe ride on Lake Manyara takes between 1.5 and 2 hours and allows you to encounter aquatic species, birds, hippos and more.
Day 4: Lake Manyara to Serengeti by road
Leave Lake Manyara Park in a 4×4 tourist vehicle, and you may have exiting game drive. This is to allow you spot more animals in Lake Manyara N/Park and proceed to Serengeti N. Park, most popular for its endless plains.
Day 5: Encounter Serengeti National Park’s diverse wildlife
A full day is dedicated for you to have a complete exploration of Serengeti NP diverse wildlife. Today, you will have a combined views of the big 5 game and also the wildebeests. Serengeti is extensive with huge concentrations of wildlife including zebras, cheetahs, buffaloes, topis, leopards, lions, gazelles, elephants, hyenas, and birds like Swahili sparrow, Tanzanian red-billed hornbills, Ruppell’s vultures, Meyer’s parrot, Southern ground hornbills and others.
Day 6: Air balloon excursion and Maasai community visit
Set off for sunrise balloon safari over the plains of Serengeti National Park. This comes with a delicious bush breakfast and some snacks. Keep eyes on variety of mammals including elephants, wildebeest, zebras, and view the unique landscape of Serengeti characterized by extensive savanna plains. Return to have a relaxed time at the lodge and in the afternoon, you will be visiting the Maasai community to have amazing cultural experience. Get entertained by the Maasai warriors; learn about their distinct traditions, cultures, practices and more.
Day 7: Visit Ngorongoro Crater, game drive
Depart from Serengeti in the morning and your next destination will be Ngorongoro Crater, a natural wonder with diverse wildlife and breathtaking landscapes. You will have a memorable afternoon game viewing which comes with great sights of lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes, antelopes and rhinos, etc.
Day 8: Game drive and depart for Tarangire
Leave your lodge for last exploration in the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, spot more wildlife that you missed the previous day. Incredible sights this morning game viewing session include leopards, spotted hyenas, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, elands, waterbucks and birds. You will exit Ngorongoro for Tarangire National Park, renowned for its huge baobab trees and huge herds of elephants. Arrive early to check in at your wildlife safari lodge.
Day 9: Full day game viewing excursion (Tarangire)
Embark on a full day wildlife/game viewing expedition in the spectacular Tarangire National Park. Get incredible sights of leopards, elephants, elands, giraffes, cape buffaloes, hartebeests, zebras and birds. Have a picnic lunch and continue with your search for more wildlife. You will return to the lodge once for relaxation, dinners and night stay.
Day 10: Return to Arusha at leisure
After breakfast, start a safe drive to Arusha, 3 to 4 hours. You will be dropped at the hotel or airport for you to depart back home -marking the end of your safari in Tanzania.
