Overview.
Akagera National Park is one of the hidden treasures of Rwanda and is the only National Park in the country that offers the big 5 animals encounters. Travelers will have the grand opportunity to experience the endowments of Akagera National Park and therefore encounter a variety of wildlife species living within.
Nyungwe National Park on the other hand as fitted into this exciting safari provides a variety of exciting and engaging touristic activities which the travelers will gladly participate in especially the chimpanzee tracking since this outback is a popular habitat for chimpanzees.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Kigali to Akagera National Park in eastern Rwanda.
The exciting adventure will start off by pick up of the guests from Kigali International Airport upon arrival by a professional tourist guide with a tourist vehicle. Embark on the drive to Akagera National Park which will take you approximately two hours and 30 minutes. Embark on the drive to the accommodation facility when you reach the National Park. A delicious lunch will be served to you as you enjoy the relaxation at the lodging facility.
Enjoy the sightings of Akagera National Park from the premises of your lodge and later in the evening, you will undertake a nature walk in the surroundings of the lodge. This nature walk will help you view some of the animals that live within the outback especially the leopards, black and white colobus monkeys, African buffaloes and African Bush elephants. Transfer back to the lodge at sundown to get served a delicious dinner and have an overnight rest.
Day 2: Day game drive and lake Ihema launch cruise.
A delicious breakfast will be prepared and served at sunrise at the lodge. Enjoy breakfast and after embark on the day’s safari activities which will be kicked off by a morning game drive through the National Park landscapes. This will help you view the animals that live within especially the big 5 animals. Continue with the exploration until midday when you drive back to the lodge to get served a scrumptious lunch.
After lunch, drive to the magnificent lake Ihema in the National Park where you will undertake a boat cruise that will further help you view the animals especially in the shores of the lake in the riverine vegetation and the bird species that fly over the lake and also stay in the vegetation in the surroundings. The bird species encompass the shoebills, sunbirds, hammerkops, African fish eagles, African darters, Yellow billed ox-peckers, secretary birds, African jacanas, palm swifts, lanner falcons, barn owls and vultures. Transfer to the lodge at sunset, relax and scrumptious dinner will be served to you later after which you’ll have an overnight rest.
Day 3: Akagera to Nyungwe National Park in South western Rwanda.
Have a delicious morning meal at sunrise after which you will check out to proceed on the journey to Nyungwe National Park. This drive will last for about 7 hours and on arrival in Nyungwe National Park you will continue to the luxurious lodging facility where you will relax in your spacious rooms as you relish in the views of the captivating Nyungwe forest.
The team at the lodge will serve you delicious lunch meal that you will savor as you relax in the well-appointed restaurant. After lunch, you will proceed along the Karamba birding trail that will present opportunities for you to view numerous species of birds within the magnificent Nyungwe National Park.
will therefore have the opportunity to observe beautiful bird species encompassing the secretary birds, scavengers, black bee eaters, black breasted barbet, woodpeckers, black vultures, hammerkops, African fish eagles, great blue turacos, hadada ibis, Abyssinian ground hornbill and egrets. Make your way to the lodge in the evening to relax and have a delicious dinner and later go to your well decorated rooms for an overnight stay.
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk in Nyungwe national park.
At the crack of dawn, the team at the lodge will serve you a well marinated breakfast. Then proceed for a briefing about the chimpanzee tracking adventure which will be conducted by Rangers in Nyungwe National Park to inform you about the rules and regulations while on this primate adventure.
Make your way to the forest to indulge in the exciting chimpanzee tracking activity. This activity will last for about two hours as you enjoy observing the animals in their natural habitat while taking pictures with them. Head back to the lodge at noon and relax in the ambient environment as you view the tree canopies.
A delicious lunch will be served later by the team and after you will undertake a canopy walk in the afternoon. The canopy walk will present to you the views of the entire forest from above, beautiful birds and other animals that live within especially the primates. At sundown, you will drive back to the lodge and relax in your rooms where you will be served dinner and have an overnight rest.
Day 5: Community tour and drive to Kigali.
Breakfast will be served in the wee hours of the morning after which you will undertake the transfer to Bisesero village. In the village, you will have a community tour where you will meet the local people, interact with them and indulge in their entertainment activities. Also perform humanitarian work which is substantial in terms of empowering the local community.
Enjoy this beautiful moment with the locals as you get a deep dive into their cultural and traditional way of life. The thunderous cultural Kinyarwanda dances will then be performed to make the visit more exciting. Transfer back to the lodge at midday have lunch. After lunch, you will undertake the drive back to Kigali and check in at the hotel on arrival.
Relax in the hotel premises as you enjoy the views of the city and later at sunset, dinner will be served and you will have the Kigali nightlife experiences in the state-of-the-art bars. You’ll have an overnight stay at the hotel as you await the next day’s exciting experience.
Day 6: Kigali city tour and departure.
At first light of the day, visitors will upon waking up be served a delicious breakfast. Enjoy breakfast as you stare at the bustling city and after go on a city tour that will be launched to Kigali genocide memorial center to equip you with insights into the dark history of Rwanda.
Another tour will be conducted within Kimironko market where visitors will enjoy a taste of the local beverages and meals, buy souvenirs representing the Rwandan culture and later make your way to a high-end restaurant to have lunch. Drive to Kigali International Airport to catch the flight back home.
