Safari Overview
On this 3 day Samburu National Park safari, we take you to the northern part of the Republic of Kenya. In the local dialect of Maa language, the word Sambura means “butterfly”. The park sits on a 165 sq. km area, bordering Ewaso Ng’iro River to the south, and the Buffalo Springs game reserve. The park is home to a variety of flora and fauna. Some of the park’s inhabitants include; the Somali ostrich, cheetah, lions, gravy zebra, gerenuk, reticulated Giraffe, elephants, wild dogs, baby Oryx and more.
The birdlife numbers over 450 species that can be identified through the guidance of an expert ranger guide. It is a road trip through the countryside where you will identify the Samburu people and way of life. The activities you will engage in include; game drive, Carmel trekking, and game drive. The safari pick-up and drop-off is at Nairobi Kenya or any other agreed destination. It is a holiday time in well selected accommodation facilities, timely transfers and rest time. From the start to the end of this safari, client requests are responded to swiftly and effectively.
Detailed Trip
Day1: Transfer to Samburu NP
Your drive from Nairobi city lasts for about 5-6 hours via the Thika superhighway route with the views of the stunning landscape, lush plantations, and busy towns. You will have an enroute stopover for sight-seeing which the guide finds fascinating, and the other stopover will be for Lunch. As you approach the game reserve, your eyes will be on the Samburu people who will be in their cultural attire which resembles those of the Masai warriors.
The smiles of those saluting you should warm the heart of what is to be experienced within the 48 hours of your stay at the reserve. After arriving and checking at the lodge, the driver guide will gladly arrange an activity for the evening. This is an hour Camel tour at the designated trails. The camels draw you closer to mother nature; unveiling perfect photographic opportunities and sunset views. End the day with a sweet slumber after dinner.
Day2: Game drive and Samburu community tours
Wake up at 06:00 hours for a sunrise game drive experience in the open savanna grassland. You will explore through the guidance of an experienced ranger guide who will explain about the park, landscape, flora, fauna and the water bodies.
This 3-4 hours’ session offers a chance to encounter among others; beisa Oryx, waterbucks, grant gazelles, warthogs, jackals, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, lions, elephants, gravy’s zebra, leopards, impalas, olive baboons, bats, warthogs, cheetah, hyenas, jackals, klipspringer, elands, grant gazelles, wild dogs though very rare, hippos, and more. You will follow the game drive with bush breakfast and a return to the lodge for Lunch
In the cool evening hours; the Samburu drum beats will usher you to the ancient ways of the African ethnic tribe. The renowned pastoralists whose lives are dependent on cows. There will be a community walk, stories, and a climax of songs. Feel free to buy some locally made souvenirs as a way of supporting the community. Afterwards, you will return to the lodge for dinner and a peaceful sleep.
Day3: Departure
Wake up for a relaxed breakfast meal at the lodge. Thereafter, you will bid farewell to your hosts for an exit game drive to Nairobi city. Our driver guide will drop you at the agreed point after some surprise stopover. Lunch will be served enroute.
