5 Days Simien Mountains Trekking Tour
Day 01. Flight to Gondar – Drive to Simien Mountains
You will arrive via Addis Bole International airport and you will be welcomed by our guide and you will be checked in to board your domestic flight to Gondar. Here you will meet with another team that will drive you to Simien Mountains. The simian mountains are a UNESCO world natural heritage site. When you get to the Simien mountains, you will check into the lodge and then head out to explore this scenic area. The escarpment of this area is a good spot to see the baboons. This particular spot is called the ‘bleeding heart baboon’ and it houses the Gelada baboons that are endemic to Ethiopia and can be seen in big numbers here. There are attracted here in large numbers due to the presence of good vegetation since they feed on herbs, grass and roots. They also eat insects like grasshoppers and locusts. You will head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Overnight at Sankaber
Day 02. Trek Sankaber to Geech
Our Hike today will begin at Sankaber. We shall follow the ridge which will give us views of about 800 meters below us. You will descend abit into the valley to get views of Jinbar Rivers. We shall then continue to the Geech village where we shall camfor the night.
Overnight Camping at Geech. 3,580masl.
Day 03. Geech to ImetGogo to Siha Gorge to KedaDit to Geech
We shall have breakfast and then hike further through the grassed plateau. This plateau is home to the Giant Lobelia that flourishes very well here. The Hike to the ImetGogo will take us 2 hours to get here. This point will give you a very good 360 degree view of Simien Mountains. At this point we shall have reached an altitude of about 3,926 meters above sea level. We shall have our lunch at the Siha Gorge. WE shall head back to Geech for dinner and overnight. You can take a sunsent hike to KedarDit.

Day 04. Geech to Innatye to Chennek
We shall then take a 7 hours hike to the most beautiful mountain. We shall take the south Eastern direction towards Innatye and then you will descent after the Hazel forest. After reaching the Innatye point, you will get to know why the locals refer to it as “mama mia”. We shall have our lunch here and then move towards Chennek where you have chances of seeing the Walia Ibex and Gelada baboons.
Chennek will be your campsite for the night. 3,620masl.
Day 05. Chennek to Gondar
We shall have our breakfast at the Campsite and then hike about 2 hours to the peak of Buwahit. This is the second highest peak of the Simien Mountains at an altitude of about 4,430 meters above sea. We shall descend than drive back to Addis Ababa for our flight back home.
