4 DAYS DANAKIL DEPRESSION TOUR
Day 1: Flight To Semera – Erta’ale
You will arrive at the Semera airport where our guide will welcome you and brief you about this tour and Ethiopia in General. We shall then drive to Erta’ale. We shall make a stopover for lunch at the township of Afdera. While here we shall have good views of the Erta Ale Volcano.. We shall drive through the desert as we reach the basalt rock that was formed by the Lava flows. The ride here will be bumpy but slow. We shall then head to our accommodation for dinner and overnight. After dinner you can take an optional 30 minutes hike to the Erta Ale crater. The hike is a bit flat but make sure you carry a supporting stick and torch.

Day 2: Drive Erta’ale – Dallol
We shall have or breakfast while we watch the sun rise the Lava Lake. We shall then head to our car and drive to Dallol. The drive is mostly on a bumpy and desert road. We shall make a stop at the Palm grove for lunch. In the afternoon we shall drive to Ahmedela which is a very small settlement where the salted mined in the area is flagged off to the different processing town. There are large camel herds and Caravans. The view of the sun setting is another thing to look out for as you end your day.

Day 3: Drive Dalol- Afdera
After our breakfast we shall drive to the salt domes of Dallol. This area has very stunning geothermal pools. The Dallol area has very good landscapes due to the many mineral deposits and these also make the place colourful. The Geyser and the sulphur pools is another thing to be excited about. We shall use the entire morning to go around the terrain of this area. We shall make our way towards Afdera but we shall make a stopover at the Salt Canyons. We shall have an opportunity to see how the locals mine salt by hand and then load it onto the Camels. The salt depression here is about 1,200 Km2. We shall stop for lunch at the hot springs. You will be allowed to swim here or take a shower. The local believe he water is good for the skin due to the many mineral deposits.

Day 4: Afdera – Allalobad – Semera
We shall drive to Allalobad geothermal site which is also known as the Water of Allah after our breakfast. Later in the afternoon we shall drive back to Semera for our flight back to Addis Ababa.
