The beauty at Tsavo National Park is indescribable. So today, just fly, roam, travel, discover, explore, and journey to Tsavo West National Park, a locality covered with plants having deep, wide roots that absorb water from a mile to survive during dry seasons. It’s also covered with green grass that turns brown during the hot seasons. This type of vegetation is referred to as Savanna Vegetation. Grassland vegetation is a grazing area for a variety of animals such as zebras, gazelles, giraffes, buffaloes, rhinos, and more. The park also houses lions that easily adapt to the vegetation, where they hide in the tall grass when they feel tired or when targeting a certain animal. The skin color of lions is not easily detectable by other species. So use this chance of their goldish color and night vision sense to outpower other species in the bush. Leopards, tigers, reptiles, and primates are also sheltered in this park.
Pay a fee of 515 KSh for citizen adults, 215 KSh for children, and foreigners pay 52 US$ for adults while children pay 35 US$. Enter Masai Mara, a world of wonders with interesting activities such as:
Camping: This consists of a group of people that set up in a certain vicinity in the park, usually done at night or in the morning. In some National Parks, you can either buy a tent or sleep in an artificial luxury house built resembling a tent. Camping is usually accompanied by a fire that spreads light in the surrounding area and keeps everyone warm if a certain group booked night camping. Tourists can book private camping places depending on their budget, while others prefer public camping to interact with people.
Interaction with the Inhabitants of the Land: The Manyattas are amazing structures that catch tourists’ attention. Tourists can watch the sun gently dipping over the horizon while standing around the blazing fire lit by the Maasai people. They can also observe the village warriors dancing to attract the most beautiful girls to be their wives. Visitors can accompany their watching with drinks or snacks.
Hot Air Balloon Safari: Relax in a stunning balloon driven by an engineer using hot air to lift it into the air. This enables tourists to see the sunrise if done in the morning and sunset if done in the evening. Those who fear being in space can opt for walking on the ground level throughout the park while observing different species. The advantage of seeing something from up high is that you can view the area where your eyes stop on the ground level.
Game Drives: Game drives are enjoyed by many people, and it’s one of the first paid activities since one is secure in a car rather than walking. This activity is available for those who want to attend other activities in the morning, and it can be done in the afternoon. Tourists can also spot animals heading to their resting places while others are preparing to hunt.
The accommodations at the park have lavish interiors that give tourists a comfortable stay with enough parking space, restaurants that serve the best meals, and clean restrooms. The hotels include Lion Bluff Lodge, Rhino Valley Lodge, Severin Kitani Bandas Lodge, Hunters Lodge, to name a few.
Tsavo West National Park was established in 1948 to protect the wildlife in the Thar Desert. It is also known to be the largest park in Kenya, covering Kenya’s coastal prince with swamps, rocky peaks, and an extinct volcanic crater. The recommended means of transport are either road or air transport, though during wet seasons, airstrips are sometimes closed due to excessive wind and thunderstorms, which may damage planes. This is a bad thing when in the air. That’s why most tourists visit during the dry season. However, those who dislike congestion can visit at any time of the year.
Recommended to pack the following:
Safari Clothes: Comfortable clothes with dull colors are advised to be worn, as they don’t attract insects. Even long-sleeved clothes are recommended because they protect your entire body.
Sunglasses and Hats: These shield one’s eyes from the sun during the day. Some tourists come from very cold countries and may need time to adjust to the high heat in this country. That’s why sunglasses, safari hats, and regular hats are recommended to protect the face and head from the burning heat.
Insect Repellent: It’s advised to pack this because mosquitoes and other insects in Africa may leave you with red spots. To have a calm stay, always use this protective gear.
Always follow instructions when at this National Park, and these include:
Always keep the park clean; littering is strongly prohibited because wild animals may ingest litter, which could be harmful to them.
Animals dislike noise, so one ought to be quiet when in the park to avoid making them run and hide in their resting spots, which could prevent you from observing their behavior.
Maintain a safe distance from the animals during nature walks to ensure your safety, as large mammals like elephants may want to charge, which could be dangerous. That’s why guidelines are given at the entrance and read loudly.
Feeding wild species is not allowed, especially carnivores, as it may lead to unpredictable behavior. Wild animals are not friends with humans, so always move with a tour guide and a security personnel who are well equipped with a gun.
The attractions at the park include wildlife, historical premises, Maasai people, and many others. This is your time to explore, and the best place for you is Tsavo West National Park.
