Detailed Nyiragongo Hike and Virunga Gorilla Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Gisenyi
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will find our tour guide waiting for you. They will then transfer you to Gisenyi, west of Rwanda. Upon arrival in Gisenyi, you will check into your lodge for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Hike Mount Nyiragongo
Have an early morning breakfast and cross the border by 8:00 am, driving towards the Kibati Patrol Post in Virunga National Park. Upon arrival, attend the briefing and begin your hike to the summit of Mount Nyiragongo.
Day 3: Descend Nyiragongo
Today, descend Mount Nyiragongo. Upon reaching the starting point, your tour guide will be waiting for you to drive towards Goma Town. Spend the rest of your afternoon relaxing at your hotel.
Day 4: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Departure
Start your day with an early morning breakfast and drive to the park headquarters for your mountain gorilla trekking pre-briefing session. During this meeting, you will be allocated into groups of 8 and assigned to random mountain gorilla groups to track.
After meeting the mountain gorillas, return to your starting point, meet with the guide, cross the border, and immediately transfer to Kigali to catch your departure flight.
