Congo is the only country in the world with both lowland and mountain gorillas. This 4-day lowland and mountain gorilla safari will let you track these two species of gorillas in a single trip.
You will visit Virunga National Park and Kahuzi Biega National Park. Mountain gorillas are found in Virunga National Park, whereas lowland gorillas are found in Kahuzi Biega National Park.

Detailed Congo Gorilla Special Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Goma
Our safari guide will pick you up from Kigali, Rwanda, and transfer you to Goma in Congo. You will have your lunch en route and arrive in the evening.
Upon reaching Goma, you will check into your lodge and relax as you prepare for your mountain gorilla trekking encounter the following day.
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Bukavu
Wake up to an early morning breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a briefing meeting. During this meeting, you will be briefed about gorilla trekking and assigned random mountain gorilla groups to track.
From here, you will trek through the mountains to search for gorillas, spend an hour with them, and then return to your starting point.
After your gorilla trekking experience, you will immediately transfer to Bukavu, located south of Lake Kivu. It is in Bukavu where you will find Kahuzi Biega National Park, home to Congo’s lowland gorillas.
Day 3: Lowland Gorilla Trekking
Wake up early in the morning and head to the park headquarters for a short briefing before trekking in the lowlands of Kahuzi Biega National Park to search for lowland gorillas.
When you encounter the gorillas, you will spend an hour with them and then return to your lodge to relax.
Day 4: Departure
Depart Congo via the Cyangugu Border in Rwanda. You will have your lunch en route as you drive towards Kigali from the southern province of Rwanda.
Arrive in Kigali in the evening and proceed directly to the airport to catch your departure flight.
